Say hello to Stephanie Conover, the first openly Wiccan pageant queen. Hurray for her openness! Unfortunately there are some other folks who don't think she is fit to be a judge for other pageants because of her religion. Read more about it at The Wild Hunt Blog.
Yuletide Sparks
So the Circle of Aradia event was ok. I was a little bit underwhelmed by the ritual, but I really liked a lot of the gaias that I met there. There were some really offensive things said, unfortunately, and yet it has been the most promising public ritual that K and I have attended. It seems like CoA is in a bit of a transitional period in its 36 years of existence (one, I'm sure, of many that it has been through). Part of me wants to see what will happen and maybe take advantage of the lack of direction of the group by suggesting a direction myself (and those who know me won't be surprised that I am thinking this) and part of me wants to stay far away.
One reason I would be interested in staying involved was because we met other gaias around our age, they are feminist (if a bit second wave), and they are associated with the Cella Priestess Program which I have been wanting to learn more about. I think I would like to meet more CoAers and get a better picture of where the organization is headed.
Still going to start a circle of our own (Collectively II, yo)... Because nothin' says lovin' like somethin' from the Coven!
Yule Celebration
Blessed (belated) Yule everyone!
K and I are headed out to a Dianic womyn's gathering tonight to celebrate the Solstice and 36 years of the Dianic tradition. My last experience with a Dianic group wasn't the greatest, but Circle of Aradia has a pretty great reputation (or at least it did about 6 years ago).
First we are going to record some new chants to make a new cd for a certain group of not-so-new gaias that may be visiting us in a few months!
Wish us luck!
Whole Mother Birth Services
So since I am between jobs at the moment (but have a feeling that I won't be for long) I decided to use my time wisely and finally put up the website for K's and I doula business: Whole Mother Birth Services! You can see the beginnings of the page at www.wholemotherbirth.com. Tell me what you think! It isn't done, but there is enough on there to give you an idea of the vision. ;)
And for any of you creative types out there, we are still in need of a graphic for WMB (or WoMB, as I like to imagine it). Any ideas?
Oh and while you are at it check out the amazing picture of Z. Budapest at 35 in her candle shop at her page : http://zbudapest.covenspace.com. And if you don't know who Z is, well, child, you got to get yourself a Pagan education!
Hurray for a place to live!
So, K and I have found a place to live in San Pedro! Hurray! It was a very easy process and I know that it is because of all the good vibes sent our way via the PWC cosmic carrier. lol. The PWC power pusher... The PWC coven cruiser... The PWC magickal messenger... The PWC energy ermine.*
Anyways, thank you! It is a little beach cottage in the southeastern most tip of L.A. We can hear the seals from our yard. We're thinking about names for the place... I am thinking about something to do with selkies...
Random question... Anybody seen any of America's Psychic Challenge? Crazy stuff... We should have a PWC psychic challenge. What would that look like?
